Overview Itinerary
The Ship
Explorer of the Seas joined the Royal Caribbean fleet in October 2000. A recent makeover has added exciting new features including an outdoor cinema screen, FlowRider surf simulator, virtual balconies in interior rooms, and tasty new dining venues. The fourteen passenger decks are jam-packed with highlights - from the stylish Royal Promenade to the family-friendly fun, amazing leisure facilities, tasty culinary experiences, and amazing evening entertainment. Days at sea are the perfect time to explore the ship. Escape to the tranquil surroundings of the adult-only Solarium to unwind in the whirlpools, or indulge in a rejuvenating facial in Vitality at Sea Spa. Show off your surfing skills on the FlowRider or scale the dizzy heights of the rock climbing wall. Glide across the ice at the ice skating rink or practice your golf swing at Explorer Dunes Golf Course. Discover fun times for tots to teens in the Adventure Ocean play area, Optix Teen Disco, and Video Arcade. A full programme of excursions and adventures also await at your ports of call.

Food
Explorer of the Seas offers a variety of flavours and dining styles. Opt for an early or late sitting or My Time Dining in the three-tier Sapphire dining room to enjoy a daily-changing menu of culinary treats. Windjammer Marketplace hosts serve-yourself casual dining with the food islands and new, interactive stations showcasing international culinary delights. The ship's speciality restaurants enhance the onboard gastronomic experiences. Chops Grille offers a menu of premium steaks, fresh seafood, and signature desserts. Step inside the 1950s-style American diner Johnny Rockets for gourmet burgers, fries, and milkshakes. Izumi Japanese Cuisine combines sushi and sashimi with Hot Rock Plates, sukiyaki and more. Tuck into rustic Tuscan dishes with a contemporary twist in the casual setting of Giovanni's Table.

Drink
Explorer of the Seas offers bars and lounges to suit your every mood. Sip exotic cocktails and ice-cold beers at the Pool Bar and Solarium Bar. Savour drinks with a sea view at Sky Bar or Crown & Kettle Pub offers a range of imported beers and ales. Chat with friends over drinks in the nautically-themed Schooner Bar or relax with an after-dinner cognac in Connoisseur Club. Celebrate with classic cocktails in the 1960s vibe of R Bar or watch sports events with a beer in The Tavern. Viking Crown Lounge combines spectacular vistas by day and turns into a lively dance club at night.

Entertainment
Evenings on Explorer of the Seas offer something for everyone. Broadway-style productions light up the stage each night in the Palace Theatre, and there are weekly themed events on the Royal Promenade. Star Lounge offers lively dancing, live music and entertainment, or take a chance at the roulette wheel and slot machines in Casino Royale. Watch first-run movies and big-time sporting events at the outdoor movie screen. End the night in style with dancing at the late-night DJ parties in Dizzy's Jazz Club.

Day 2 - 3: At Sea
Day 4: Funchal, Madeira
It is very easy to see why Madeira has gained the name of 'The Garden Island'. Lush greenery with an array of tropical fruits, this island is a favourite on many cruise itineraries. Take gondola ride to the mountain village of Monte to experience some of the most breathtaking views of the island, then take the thrilling way down on a local toboggan, winding and bending over the cobbles; this is something you won’t want to miss. For wine lovers, venture out into the vineyards and experience some of the famous wine of the region.
Day 5: Tenerife, Canary Islands
Snow topped mountains contrasted with sandy beaches make Tenerife a firm favourite with tourists. Loro Park, the islands famous water park, is a popular choice for those looking to see the whale and dolphin shows and then head into the city centre and take in some local tapas whilst shopping in the array of shops here. With year round sunshine the beaches on the island will always welcome you to sit back relax and enjoy whilst topping up your tan.
Day 6: Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
Arrive in Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria. Explore the impressive Santa Ana Cathedral, Plaza de Santa Ana, Palacio Regental, and the Bishop's Palace in Vegueta - the oldest part of the city. Spend the day sunbathing on Playa de Las Canteras, regarded as one of the world's best beaches, or enjoy live Canarian folk music and dancing at Pueblo Canario. Relax in the idyllic surroundings of Parque Doramas or enjoy a leisurely coffee on Plaza Cairasco. Discover national treasures dating back from Roman times at El Museo Canario. Admire the indigenous flora and fauna at the Jardin Botanico Viera y Clavijo, travel to the famous Maspalomas dunes or join a trek to the Bandama Caldera.
Day 7: Lanzarote, Canary Islands
The ship drops anchor today on the island of Lanzarote. Admire Castillo San Gabriel and Castillo San Jose that form the backdrop to Arrecife harbour. The beautiful golden sand of Playa del Reducto is ideal for a morning's sunbathing, or take a stroll along the seafront promenade to the peaceful Playa del Cable. Venture inland to explore the landscape of Timanfaya National Park's fire mountains or uncover the spectacular natural concert hall and subterranean lagoon at Cueva de Los Verdes.
Day 8: At Sea
Day 9: Vigo, Spain
Spain's Atlantic coastline is home to the Galician town of Vigo and its many attractions. Explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Vigo and Plaza Constitucion in Casco Vella, before admiring the views from Castro Fortress. Immerse yourself in culture at Museo do Mar de Galicia, Museo Municipal de Vigo, and Museum of Contemporary Art. Discover the El Sireno sculpture at Porta do Sol or go shopping on Rua do Principe. Watch the fisherman at O Berbes and spend some time on Playa de Samil beach. Venture further afield to Santiago de Compostela and Pontevedra or even take a boat trip around the Cíes Islands.
Day 10: La Coruna, Spain
La Coruña overlooks the Bay of Coruña in the north-west corner of Spain. Step ashore and visit the Tower of Hercules, Castillo de San Anton, and Castillo de San Diego. Explore the Roman wall, historical buildings and the medieval Church of Santiago in Ciudad Vieja. Get a culture hit at the Museum of Sacred Art, Archaeological Museum and Military Museum. People-watch at La Marina and Plaza Maria Pita, or relax on the Playa Riazor and Playa del Orzan beaches. Enjoy some family fun at Aquarium Finisterrae, Science Museum and Domus — an interactive museum. Venture further afield to visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Santiago de Compostela, Betanzos and Ferrol.
