Overview Itinerary
The Ship
Marella Discovery made a real splash when she joined the Marella Cruises' fleet in May 2015. She was the first ship in the fleet to feature the new all inclusive concept and innovative features such as a rock climbing wall, outdoor cinema, mini golf course, indoor pool, and a five-deck high atrium. The ship's eleven decks boast a chic and contemporary decor, a vibrant restaurant and bar scene, and thrilling West-end style entertainment. Unwind with a rejuvenating facial in Oceans Spa and Beauty Salon, or chill out at the adult-only The Veranda. Indulge in retail therapy at the Broad Street shops or enjoy interactive fun at Gamerzone. Meet the challenge of the Break Out & Escape games room or reach for the skies at The Wall. There's fun for younger guests at the Babytainment classes and Kids' Club; while The Hide Out is the perfect hang-out for teens. On top of this, the ship docks in some amazing ports of call, opening up a variety of sightseeing and adventures ashore.

Food
The stylish 47◦ eatery spans two decks and offers a waiter-served menu of traditional culinary treats with a modern twist. The upper floor is also the place to savour Italian-inspired dishes at Gallery 47◦. Islands restaurant presents buffet-style delights with show cooking stations and between meals snacks. Stop by the festival food stalls in Snack Shack and tuck into bacon butties at breakfast, followed by sweet chilli chicken wings, focaccia sandwiches, and mezze salads during the afternoon. Enjoy deli-style snacks and freshly-squeezed juices by day and tapas and steaks cooked over hot stones in the evening at The Glass House. Treat yourself to gourmet culinary experiences at the a la carte eateries - Surf & Turf Steakhouse specialises in marbled steaks, succulent lobster tails, and vegetarian options; or Kora La serves pan-Asian specialities to your table or feast on light fish and vegetable delights and Asian beers at the Sushi Bar here too.

Drink
The Coffee Port has a library and serves speciality Lavazza coffees and delicious cake by the slice. Deck Bar is the perfect spot to unwind with your favourite cocktail or an ice-cold beer by the pool. Get the best view of the evening entertainment in the atrium as you enjoy a glass of fizz in Atrium Bar. Head up to Deck 11 for far-reaching sea views by day and cocktails and a late-night disco after dark at Bar Eleven. A mix of ambient piano music, on-tap beers, and late night dance floor classics set the scene for a night in Live Room.

Day 1: Fly UK to Corfu Town
Fly from your selected UK airport to Corfu Town and be transferred to the port to embark on board Marella Discovery.
Day 2: At sea
Day 3: Civitavecchia, Italy
Spend the day exploring the charming port of Civitavecchia and Rome — an ancient city filled with famous landmarks, distinct architecture and influential art. Visit Civitavecchia's main public square — Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II — and see the Baroque cathedral dedicated to St. Francis, before taking a seat in a pavement cafe for a taste of the local seafood. In Rome, enjoy a gladiator experience at the grand Colosseum, view the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum, and throw three coins in the Trevi Fountain. Pay a visit to the Vatican City — the home of the Catholic Church — and see St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's ceiling.
Day 4: Naples, Italy
Naples on Italy's Amalfi Coast is your next port of call. Visit Piazza del Plebiscito to admire the Royal Palace, Galleria Umberto and San Carlo Theatre. Step inside the Duomo to view the Cappella di San Gennaro, the baptistery, and colourful frescoes and mosaics. Enjoy family-time at Acquario Della Stazione Zoological Di Napoli. Join a tour to the ruins of Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius and picturesque Sorrento and Positano. Or take a scenic boat trip to the beautiful island of Capri.
Day 5: Messina, Sicily
The Messina Strait is a narrow 3km wide water passage that runs between the island of Sicily and mainland Italy, joining together the Tyrrhenian Sea in the west and the Ionian Sea in the east. Due to its shallow depth, the Messina Strait has long been a challenge for even the most experienced of sailors! Step ashore in Messina and explore the astronomical clock, Fontana di Orione at Piazza del Duomo and the extensive art collection at Museo Regionale. Messina is also a great base from which to discover Mount Etna. The best mountain views can be enjoyed from one of the carriages of the Circumetnea Railway.
Day 6: Valletta, Malta
The gateway to Mount Etna, Messina, is the third-largest port in Sicily. This city — which was used to film part of the film 'The Godfather' — is famous for its museums and architectural beauty. Drive up the side of nearby Mount Etna on a day trip or wander around the many shops along Messina's wide boulevards to look at Sicilian pottery and art pieces. Black volcanic glass from Mount Etna features heavily in Sicilian jewellery and makes a great souvenir. Visit Norman Messina Cathedral to see its beautiful, 15th-century windows and astronomical clock tower, before walking by the stunning marble fountains — Fontana di Orione and Neptune Fountain — which are decorated with mythical creatures and gods. Make sure to dine on locally-inspired swordfish, pasta and pizza dishes complemented by rich Sicilian wine at a trattoria during your time here, too.
Day 7: Taranto, Italy
The coastal city of Taranto lies between the Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo in southern Italy. Home to stunning natural landscapes, long stretches of sandy beaches, quaint seaside resorts, and wild areas with sheer cliffs; Taranto has plenty to offer. Tour the 15th-century Aragonese Castle guided by the Italian Navy or discover the unique characteristics of the Cathedral of Saint Catald. Check out the historical quirks of National Archaeological Museum of Taranto-Marta and sail along the Ponte Girevole canal. San Vito is an idyllic seaside resort ideal for soaking up the sunshine, trying out water sports, or swimming the crystal blue waters. Experience up-close encounters at the Jonian Dolphin Conservation and capture photos with the beautiful sea life species.
