Transit Messina Strait, Italy (Cruise-by)
Greek legends, migrating wildlife, and the occasional mirage make a journey through the Strait of Messina a uniquely fascinating voyage. Connecting the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Ionian Sea, the narrow waterway of Italy’s Strait of Messina provides passage to more than 300 migrating birds and is a hotbed of biodiversity. Swordfish migrate here annually between May and July, and can regularly be sighted along the water’s surface; while storks, flamingos, Egyptian vultures, and countless birds of prey are among the Strait of Messina’s regular feathered visitors. Just 3km at its narrowest point and with a naturally-occurring whirlpool at its northern tip; the Strait has been linked to the Greek legend of Scylla and Charybdis; two opposing sea monsters believed to have inhabited the waters in ancient times. Fata Morgana, or mirage, has also been known to appear on the horizon here; historically thought to be conjured up by sorceresses to lure unsuspecting sailors, these mirages take shape when the atmosphere is just right when looking towards Sicily from Calabria.
8
Corfu, Greece
With its sun-kissed beaches, incredible history and culture, and delicious Greek cuisine; Corfu is the second-largest Ionian island and a must-see destination on your cruise. Situated above the Adriatic Sea, Corfu is known for its picturesque old fishing villages, warm waters, and jaw-dropping coastal roads. The cruise port is within walking distance of Corfu Town and affords easy access to the New Fortress, the Old Fortress, Liston Promenade, the Church of Saint Spyridon, Mouse Island, the little church of Panagia Vlaherna, Museum of Traditional Costume and Music, Achillon Palace, Spianada Square, and the Byzantine Museum. Pelekas Beach, La Grotta Beach, and Paleokastritsa Beach are all worth visiting and no stop in Corfu is complete without tasting the island's traditional dishes such as fish stew, grilled octopus, seafood, and authentic Greek favourites like Moussaka and Gyros.
9
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Gently cruise into the Pearl of the Adriatic - Dubrovnik, a town filled with architectural wonder, crystal clear waters warmed by the Adriatic Sea, sun-baked terracotta rooftops, and slender Baroque streets dotted with charming cafes and bars. Take time to explore the iconic Old City Walls - which featured in Game of Thrones - via the Pile Gate, Fort St John’s, and the Custom’s House Gate - and admire the vistas from Minceta Tower, Revelin Fortress, St John’s Fortress, and Bokar Bastion at its four corners. The Gothic Franciscan Church and Monastery, The Rector's Palace and Cultural History Museum, Onofrio’s Great Fountain, Sponza Palace, and the Pile Gate are good choices too. Go shopping at Gruž Market or the Stradun's trinket shops and designer boutiques, ride the cable car to the top of Srd Hill, or hop on a ferry to the island of Lokrum. Typical local fare to enjoy includes Blitva, Pašticada, Paški Sir, and fresh seafood from the Elaphiti Islands.

Stop by the Land Gate with its central winged lion statue of St Mark and watch the glassblowers at Museum of Ancient Glass. An hour's drive takes you to Paklenica National Park in Starigrad and its lakes, waterfalls, and wildlife. Background
Queen Anne
Overview
Due to grace the seas in early 2024, Cunard’s 249th ship extends the Line for future generations. Queen Anne will make up a remarkable quartet alongside Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth.

The name ‘Queen Anne’ celebrates Cunard’s rich heritage, royal history, and refined status – joining a luxury contemporary fleet now honouring the names of each Queen Regnant over the last millennium.

Their close relationship with the British monarchy is a key part of their heritage, and they pride themselves on a history that is closely interwoven with that of the nation. A fitting name for the fourth in a fleet of prestigious queens, Queen Anne was chosen because of the monarch’s many merits. Reigning between the years of 1702 and 1714, in just twelve short years Queen Anne achieved a great deal, including the unification of Great Britain and pushing forward the boundaries of arts and education, enabling great progress and change. An often overlooked and even mistreated sovereign, Queen Anne was indeed an accomplished and dedicated woman. Well-loved by the people, she was an example of true grace and refinement. Two qualities that are emulated by her namesake, their fourth ship.

On board Queen Anne, Cunard’s newly designed much-loved signature spaces from across the fleet return, and she also introduces new experiences across dining, culture, and entertainment. Guests will feel inspired by the blend of old and new. Together with a team of World-renowned designers, they have created a ship designed with distinction, and reimagined the voyage experience.

For over 180 years Cunard have set the bar, and then raised it, continually refining the definitive experience of ocean travel. From this spirit comes the finest ship of its era. A ship inspired by their past and built for their future. They look forward to welcoming guests on board Queen Anne.

Queen Anne voyages will be available to book in May 2022.
