Day 4: Santander, Spain
The vibrant port of Santander sits on Spain's north coast. Alameda de Oviedo Boulevard is lined with the best shops and bars. See the 20th-century Royal Palace of La Magdalena that sits on a peninsula, visit the Gothic-style Santander Cathedral with its octagonal roof, and wander the Paseo de Pereda with its elegant seafront gardens.
Day 5: El Ferrol, Spain
El Ferrol, found in the province of A Coruña, is based in north-west Spain on the Ferrol Inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. Once a small fishing village, the city is now one of Spain's most important ship-building locations. Its seafaring history is brought to life at the 16th-century Castillo de San Felipe, the historic docklands, and the Ferrol and Naval Museum. Try some of El Ferrol's unique seafood dishes and range of wines in the old town and downtown districts. You can also travel just outside Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela — an UNESCO World Heritage site featuring Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque buildings.
Day 7: St Peter Port, Guernsey
St Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey and also its main port. Stroll around the harbour to hear the Noon Day Gun at Castle Cornet and explore the Maritime Museum. Pay a visit to the idyllic Candie Gardens or get up close to tropical marine life at the Guernsey Aquarium. Follow the Esplanade into the town centre to indulge in retail therapy on the High Street and in the Old Town. Step back to wartime at La Vallette Underground Military Museum or trace 1000 years of island history on the Baliwick of Guernsey Millennium Tapestry.
