The Ship
Launched in 2016, Scenic Amber is one of Scenic Cruises' innovative 'Space-Ships'. Setting sail along Europe's waterways with 169 guests and 53 attentive crew members on board, you can enjoy a friendly and intimate cruising experience. The spacious ambiance, chic interior, and luxurious and well-equipped staterooms and suites make you feel at home. Welcome features such as the Vitality Pool on the all-weather Sun Deck, six individual dining venues, and Fitness and Wellness Centres add to your stay. On top of this, the ship drops anchor in some amazing ports of call where you can explore independently or join an organised excursion.

Food
Savour diverse and delicious culinary experiences on board Scenic Amber. Take your seat in the Crystal Dining restaurant for tasty and locally-sourced cuisine at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tuck into all-day light bites, gelato, healthy options, and a casual lunch in River Cafe. Head up to Riverview Terrace for open-air waiter-served fare, occasional barbecues, and sundowner cocktails. Visit Portobellos for a five-course Italian feast with paired local wines or enjoy an intimate dining experience and a six-course degustation menu accompanied by sommelier-chosen wines at Table La Rive.

Drink
Panorama Lounge and Bar, with its opulent Port Laurent marble inlays, is the perfect spot to socialise with your fellow guests and take in the spectacular passing views with a glass of wine or two. Complimentary soft drinks, wine, and beer are also available at lunch and dinner.

Entertainment
Entertainment on board Scenic Amber is relaxed and low-key. If you fancy a new hair-do, the hairdressers is the go-to place, or indulge your mind and body with a massage in the idyllic Wellness Centre. On the Sun Deck take a stroll around the walking track and admire the picturesque views, or simply take a leisurely dip in the Vitality Pool. Ambient music and occasional entertainment set the scene after dinner.
Day 1: UK to Nuremberg, Germany
Fly from your chosen UK airport to Munich where you'll be met and transferred to the port in Nuremberg. You'll be welcomed aboard Scenic Amber for your Gems of the Danube cruise. Make yourself at home and unpack in your luxury cabin. Explore the ship before joining your fellow guests for dinner in the restaurant.
Day 2: Nuremberg, Germany
The historic city of Nuremberg is home to the 900-year-old Imperial Castle, Justice Palace - where the famous War Crimes Tribunal was held in 1946, Nazi party rally grounds, the WWII Documentation Centre, Germanishches Nationalmuseum, and the Way of Human Rights sculpture. Set out on one of the Freechoice options - either pay a visit to the moving WWII sites or try something a little lighter - a gingerbread baking class. Alternatively, you can join a guided walking tour of Nuremberg.
Day 3: Regensburg, Germany
At the confluence of three rivers, Regensburg offers a rich tapestry of experiences, from its medieval Old Town to the Bavarian Forest on its border. Highlights here include Porta Praetoria at Castra Regina Fortress, Dome St Peter, Schottenkirche St Jakob, and the artefacts at Bridge Tower Museum. Today's Freechoice options include: joining the group for a walk around Regensburg or hopping on a local ferry to sail the Danube Gorge to view historic Weltenburg Abbey, where you can sample beer from one of the oldest monastic breweries in the world. Alternatively, you could take a leisurely cycle on your own to the Walhalla monument with your Tailor-made GPS device.
Day 4: Passau, Germany to Linz, Austria
The German city of Passau — which lies at the confluence of the Danube, Ilz and Inn rivers — is your next port of call. The city is dominated by the 13th-century hilltop Veste Oberhaus fortress and also has the City Hall, New Bishop's Residence, and onion-domed St Stephen's Cathedral to explore too. From here you can also travel to Linz with its New Cathedral, Ars Electronica Center, and Linz Botanical Garden. Today's Freechoice options either take you on an excursion to the medieval Czech town of Cesky Krumlov to discover its World Heritage-listed old city or on a journey to Salzburg to explore the birthplace of Mozart and what was the backdrop for the film ‘The Sound of Music’.
Day 5: Melk, Germany to Durnstein, Germany
Today's Freechoice options in Melk include: a guided tour through Melk’s magnificent 18th century Benedictine Abbey. Alternatively, if you’re feeling more active, embark on an enjoyable guided bike ride along the river from Melk to one of the most enchanting villages in the region, Dürnstein. Or visit a local winery for a guided tour and tasting of its fine wines. As the day ends, you’ll get to take in the fine views of the breathtakingly beautiful Wachau Valley as you enjoy sundowners on deck with your fellow guests.
Day 6: Vienna, Austria
You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to how to spend your time in Vienna today. Freechoice options include: a guided tour of historic Bratislava or a visit to Schönbrunn Palace. Alternatively, visit the Belvedere Museum to explore Austrian art dating from the Middle Ages to the present day, including works Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Max Beckmann, plus Gustav Klimt’s paintings such as the famous golden Art Nouveau icons the Kiss and Judith. The Enrich experience takes you to the Palais Liechtenstein where you can take in the opulent and luxurious surroundings while enjoying a glass of Austrian Sekt. An enchanting private Viennese evening concert featuring the timeless music of Strauss and Mozart is next on the agenda.
Day 7: Budapest, Hungary
One of Europe's oldest and most picturesque cities is awaiting discovery today - Budapest. The 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with the flat Pest area. Ride the tram up Castle Hill to Buda's old town and visit Budapest History Museum, Royal Palace, and Parliament House. Stop by Heroes’ Square or explore Vajdahunyad Castle in nearby City Park. Freechoice options include a piano concert or the chance to discover the city's Jewish heritage on a guided tour with an expert local guide. Alternatively, you can travel to the nearby riverside town of Szentendre; famous for its museums, galleries, and artists, you’ll discover this charming town on a guided city tour.
Day 8: Budapest, Hungary to UK
After breakfast, disembark Scenic Amber and transfer to Budapest Airport for your return flight home to the UK.
