Once you arrive in Calais, France you will be escorted to board the luxurious Venice Simplon Orient Express for your onward journey to Venice, Italy.

Day 5: Dubrovnik, Croatia
The Croatian city of Dubrovnik sits on the country's southern coast on the Adriatic Sea. Admire the views as you ride the cable car to Mt Srd or visit one of the city's museums. Relax in the sunshine on Banje Beach; enjoy a boat trip to the nearby islands of Lokrum and Elafati; and view the city from the water on a kayaking trip or take a snorkelling tour.
Day 6: Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor is based on the Adriatic coastline in south-west Montenegro. One of the country's prettiest and most-famous towns, Kotor is an UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a range of historic landmarks and natural beauty spots. The old town district is filled with medieval architecture and monuments — as well as one of the narrowest streets in the world! From its Venetian-style gates to its former Austrian prisons, Kotor's past is kept alive for you to explore. Wander around the range of shops, and head to a bar or restaurant at a piazza to admire views of the mountains.
Day 7: Tirana (Durres), Albania
The port city of Durres sits on the Adriatic Sea coast of western Albania. Durres is famous for its huge Hadrian-built Roman amphitheatre with an impressive 9th-century church complete with mosaic-covered walls close by. Pay a visit to the Archaeological Museum to view exhibits from the Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman eras or admire the memorials of WWII martyrs at the Museum of Martyrs. Spend time on the broad sands of the 10km-long Durres Beach before visiting King Zog's 20th-century Royal Villa of Durres nearby. Venture further afield to Albania's colourful capital city of Tirana to see Skanderberg Square, National Historical Museum, Pyramid of Tirana, and Tirana Castle.
Day 8: Argostoli (Cephalonia), Greece
Cephalonia (also known as Kefalonia) is the largest of the seven Ionian Islands in western Greece. This beauty of this island was captured in all its glory in the 2001 film ‘Captain Corelli's Mandolin’ starring Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz. Lassi boasts the Makris Gialos and Platis Gialos beaches, while in the south of the island you'll find the golden sandy beaches, clear blue seas, and the ruins of the old Temple of Apollo in Skala. Sample traditional Lamb Kleftiko at a waterfront eatery in the chic fishing village of Fiscardo. Visit the island's capital of Argastoli and explore the Melissani Caves and Korgia Cultural and Historical Museum and see wild Loggerhead Turtles in Argostoli Bay. The Drogarati, Zervati, Kounopetra, and Dragosphilia Caves in Lixouri are well-worth a visit too.
Day 9: Taormina (Sicily), Italy
Stunningly perched on the side of a mountain, Taormina is one of Sicily’s most popular summer destinations. Step inside the Duomo to view the Cappella di San Gennaro, the baptistery, and colourful frescoes and mosaics. Enjoy family-time at Acquario Della Stazione Zoological Di Napoli. Join a tour to the ruins of Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius and picturesque Sorrento and Positano. Or take a scenic boat trip to the beautiful island of Capri.
Day 11: Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy to UK
