Since Norwegian Epic joined the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet in April 2010, she has quickly earned a stellar reputation. Not only does she live up to her name with her sheer size but the plethora of facilities on offer is truly remarkable too. Add into the mix contemporary studios, an exclusive Haven enclave, the Ibiza-inspired beach club, and two new Broadway shows, and it's easy to see why Norwegian Epic is the ship of choice for so many holiday-makers. Daytime on-board Norwegian Epic revolves around the breathtaking Aqua Park - it has two swimming pools, three multi-storey waterslides and a 60m Epic Plunge bowl slide. For tots, teens and in between, the Aqua Park Kid's pool, Recess Kid's Area, Entourage Teen Centre, Epic Wii Wall and Video Arcade are perfect to keep them happily busy. Sports-wise, take your pick from: ten-pin bowling in O'Sheehan's Bar, jogging around the refreshing deck, working-out in the Pulse Fitness Centre, or rock climbing at the Sports Complex. Indulge in head to toe pampering in the Mandara Spa or soak up the serenity of the multi-treatment pool in the Thermal Spa Suite.
You can dine your way around the world with Norwegian Epic's themed restaurants and eateries. The Taste Main Dining Room offers daily-changing menus, signature dishes from the chef and a varied list of wines. The Manhattan Room is based on New York supper clubs and combines both modern and classic cuisines with panoramic ocean views. Garden Cafe offers informal dining with freshly-cooked pastas, pizzas, crepes, omelettes, desserts and a selection of buffet-style fare. While Spice H20 offers an outdoor adult-only buffet for some slightly more peaceful dinner-dates. Dine alfresco on a wide choice of tasty dishes in the Great Outdoors eatery, or head to O'Sheehan's for American classics, beer on tap, a large-screen television, table games and an authentic Irish-pub atmosphere. Shanghai's Chinese Restaurant serves fantastic Asian cuisine including soups, noodles and wok-fried dishes, while Shanghai's Noodle Bar concentrates on a variety of noodle dishes. Haven guests have exclusive access to fine dining in The Haven Restaurant, as well as a more casual atmosphere at The Haven Courtyard Grill. The large selection of speciality restaurants enhances the on-board culinary experience you have on-board Norwegian Epic. Savour authentic Italian style-fare such as spaghetti carbonara and lobster fettuccine in La Cucina, or try French gourmet dining in the sophisticated Le Bistro. Cascades Bar in the Epic Casino and the Epic Theatre Bar both offer a full range of tempting drinks, or you can experience the long list of vodkas that are served in the chilled surroundings of the unique SVEDKA Ice Bar. Enjoy cigars and your favourite drink in the Humidor Cigar Lounge or sample countless types of whiskey in the Maltings Whiskey Bar. Sip freshly-created cocktails and martinis in Shaker's Martini Bar or relax with a cool beer or signature cocktail in the stylish environs of the Posh Beach Club. The Haven guests also have exclusive access to the private bar in The Haven Lounge.
Each evening on Norwegian Epic is never the same. Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Ballroom Blitz are just two of the top shows that hit the stage during your cruise. You can have a night in front of the incredible band at the Fat Cats Jazz and Blues Club, which recreates music from Otis Redding and BB King six nights every week. Clap and sing along with the hypnotising Howl at the Moon in the Greatest Rock'n'Roll Duelling Piano Show, or experience mesmerising tributes to stage greats courtesy of Legends in Concert (until September 2015). The White Hot Party and Cirque Dreams Dinner are also not to be missed and make for spectacular evenings you can never forget. Have a night of chancing your arm with Lady Luck as you play poker, roulette, black jack and the slot machines in The Epic Casino. But if you want to keep the party going, head to Spice H20 and Bliss Ultra Lounge for celebrity DJs; a place dedicated to maintaining the feel-good vibe long after sundown.
Day 1: UK to Barcelona, Spain
Fly from the UK to Barcelona and be transferred to the port to board NCL Epic for your seven-night cruise.
Day 3: Naples (Pompeii), Italy
Pompeii is located near the Bay of Naples in Italy. This once Roman city and its 20,000 residents were famously buried in a thick carpet of ash after the nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. The site was rediscovered with its buildings, artefacts, and skeletons virtually intact by a group of explorers in 1748. The excavation of the site has been going on for over three centuries. See the discovered artefacts on display at Antiquarium museum, before meandering through the Forum, Teatros Grande and Piccolo, Amphitheatre, the preserved Terme Stabiane baths, and House of Menander. Visit the Street of Tombs, Villa del Misteri, and House of the Vettii. At the Nuovi Savi area, at the end of Via dell'Abbondanza, view the magnificent painted frieze at Cryptoporticus House and the stunning Venus fresco in Casa della Venere.
Day 4: Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
History is around every corner in Rome. ‘The Eternal City’ is one of the world’s most historically significant destinations, home to the Pantheon, piazzas, and Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel. Discover cultural remnants of the Roman Empire, awe-inspiring Renaissance art, numerous historic landmarks, as well as the culinary delights of la dolce vita - the sweet life.
Day 5: Livorno (for Florence/Pisa), Italy
Livorno — Tuscany's second-largest city — is home to one of Italy's largest cruise ports. The city's main Terrazza Mascagni square with its grand pavement and seafront promenade is a common meeting place for locals looking to relax. The 16th-century Old Fortress faces the harbour and sits at the entrance to the canal-lined Venezia district. Enjoy gourmet dishes and sample local seafood, which is said to be the best on the Tyrrhenian Coast. Head to Central Piazza Cavour or the car-free Via Ricasoli for shopping, try Via Magenta and pick up some quirky souvenirs, or stop by Via dei Pensieri's street market for a great selection of food, clothing, accessories, and homewares. If you're looking to travel further afield, Pisa is just a short drive away.
Day 6: Cannes, France
The resort town of Cannes sits at the heart of the French Riviera. Stroll along Boulevard de la Croisette and admire the Palais des Festival et des Congres - home to Cannes Film Festival - and the handprints of famous movie stars at nearby Allee des Etoiles. Pay a visit to the impressive 17th-century Madonna on the high altar at Notre-Dame de l'Esperance church. Explore the antiquities, artworks, and musical instruments on display at Musee de la Castre or discover contemporary art at Le Malmaison Museum. Shopping is a pleasure in Cannes - whether it's at the daily Forville Market or the boutiques on La Croisette, Rue D'Antibes, and Rue Meynardier. Venture up Mont Chevalier to enjoy the old world charm of Le Suquet with Eglise du Suquet and Tour du Mont Chavalier just waiting to be admired too.
Day 7: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Palma sits on the south coast of Balearic island of Majorca and is the island's capital city. The streets of this vibrant port city are lined with an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, galleries, shops, and heritage buildings. Explore the narrow alleys and lanes of the old town, before spending time at the impressive Palma Cathedral. Indulge in retail therapy on Avenida Jaume III, Passeig de Born, and the streets around the Placa Major. Palma Aquarium, Bellver Castle and the Joan Miro Foundation are well worth a visit, too. The dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows at Marineland and Poble Espanyol — a collection of Spain's famous buildings in miniature — are great for family times. Or why not take a scenic train ride to the town of Soller or travel inland to the Caves of Drach?
Day 8: Barcelona, Spain to UK
Today your cruise comes to an end. Disembark and be transferred to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.
