Day 1: UK to Rome, Italy
Fly from the UK to Rome and be transferred to the port to board NCL Spirit for your seven-night cruise.
Day 3: Dubrovnik, Croatia
The Croatian city of Dubrovnik sits on the country's southern coast on the Adriatic Sea. Explore the city centre — an UNESCO World Heritage site — with its 17th-century Cathedral of the Assumption and Rector's Palace, before walking around the ancient city walls. Admire the views as you ride the cable car to Mt Srd or visit one of the city's museums. Relax in the sunshine on Banje Beach; enjoy a boat trip to the nearby islands of Lokrum and Elafati; and view the city from the water on a kayaking trip or take a snorkelling tour.
Day 4: Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor is based on the Adriatic coastline in south-west Montenegro. One of the country's prettiest and most-famous towns, Kotor is an UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a range of historic landmarks and natural beauty spots. The old town district is filled with medieval architecture and monuments — as well as one of the narrowest streets in the world! From its Venetian-style gates to its former Austrian prisons, Kotor's past is kept alive for you to explore. Wander around the range of shops, and head to a bar or restaurant at a piazza to admire views of the mountains.
Day 5: Messina, Sicily
The gateway to Mount Etna, Messina, is the third-largest port in Sicily. This city — which was used to film part of the film 'The Godfather' — is famous for its museums and architectural beauty. Drive up the side of nearby Mount Etna on a day trip or wander around the many shops along Messina's wide boulevards to look at Sicilian pottery and art pieces. Black volcanic glass from Mount Etna features heavily in Sicilian jewellery and makes a great souvenir. Visit Norman Messina Cathedral to see its beautiful, 15th-century windows and astronomical clock tower, before walking by the stunning marble fountains — Fontana di Orione and Neptune Fountain — which are decorated with mythical creatures and gods. Make sure to dine on locally-inspired swordfish, pasta and pizza dishes complemented by rich Sicilian wine at a trattoria during your time here, too.
Day 6: Naples (Pompeii), Italy
Pompeii is located near the Bay of Naples in Italy. This once Roman city and its 20,000 residents were famously buried in a thick carpet of ash after the nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. The site was rediscovered with its buildings, artefacts, and skeletons virtually intact by a group of explorers in 1748. The excavation of the site has been going on for over three centuries. See the discovered artefacts on display at Antiquarium museum, before meandering through the Forum, Teatros Grande and Piccolo, Amphitheatre, the preserved Terme Stabiane baths, and House of Menander. Visit the Street of Tombs, Villa del Misteri, and House of the Vettii. At the Nuovi Savi area, at the end of Via dell'Abbondanza, view the magnificent painted frieze at Crytoporticus House and the stunning Venus fresco in Casa della Venere.
Day 7: Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy
The Italian port of Livorno gives you access to both Florence and Pisa. Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region and the centre of Italian Renaissance. Explore Italy's greatest artistic treasures; Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Piazza Duomo with its world famous dome. No visit would be complete without stopping by the Uffizi Gallery and admiring the panoramic views of Florence from the 19th-century Pizzale Michelangelo. Pisa is most famous for its iconic leaning tower and is a must on any to-see list. Take a tour around the five-aisled Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the nearby Baptistery. Pay a visit to Campo Santo (Sacred Field), Museo Nazionale, and Palazzo dei Cavalieri.
Day 8: Rome, Italy to UK
Today your cruise comes to an end. Disembark and be transferred to the airport for your return flight back to the UK.
