Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
The Canary island of Gran Canaria is famous for its black lava and white sand beaches; from bustling Playa del Ingles and Puerto Rico in the south to quieter San Augustin and Puerto de Mogan in the south. Surfing fans can make a beeline for Pozo Izquierdo for some great waves and adventurers can hike at the Jurassic-like Caldera de Bandama or climb up to Roque Nublo for 360-degree island vistas. The capital of La Palmas is a Mecca for duty-free shopping, its historic Vegueta old town, Las Canteras urban beach, and marine life at Poema del Mar; while the nearby Jardin Botanico Canario Viera y Clavijo is the perfect escape. The awe-inspiring Dunas de Maspalomas are a must-see sight or step back to pre-Hispanic times at Cueva Pintada Museum. Get up close to wildlife and see dolphins, turtles, seals, toucans, and orchids at Palmitos Park – the biggest zoological park in the Canary Islands. Or, swap seals for slides at Aqualand Maspalomas Water Park, a ten-minute ride away.
8
Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
After check out be transferred to port for your seven night Canary Islands cruise.
9-10
Funchal, Madeira
It is very easy to see why Madeira has gained the name of 'The Garden Island'. Lush greenery with an array of tropical fruits, this island is a favourite on many cruise itineraries. Take gondola ride to the mountain village of Monte to experience some of the most breathtaking views of the island, then take the thrilling way down on a local toboggan, winding and bending over the cobbles; this is something you won’t want to miss. For wine lovers, venture out into the vineyards and experience some of the famous wine of the region.
11
La Palma, Canary Islands
Today the ship drops anchor on the Canary Island of La Palma. This beautiful island is a UNESCO biosphere reserve thanks to its rugged, forested landscape dotted with volcanoes like Cumbre Vieja and Teneguia. Stroll around the narrow cobbled streets of wooden-balconied houses and mansions in the island's capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma. Uncover local history and culture at Museo Naval, Museo de la Seda, Museo Casa Roja, and Museo Insular. Explore the craft shops and see artisans at work at the town of Villa de Mazo. Pay a visit to Roque de los Muchachos observatories to see the world's largest telescope - Gran Telescopio Canarias - and enjoy close up views of the amazing night sky. Venture 2km north of Santa Cruz to discover the magical Santuario de la Virgen de las Nieves church. Take a trip inland to admire the huge crater covered in pine forests and waterfalls at Caldera de Taburiente National Park.
12
San Sebastian, La Gomera
San Sebastian on the island of La Gomera is your next port of call. The resort's highlights include Torre del Conde - built to ward off pirates in bygone years - and Casa de Colon, where Columbus stayed before setting sail across the Atlantic. Pick up local delicacies such as La Gomera’s honey, palm honey, spicy almogrote cheese pate, and mojo sauce at Mercado Municipal. Spend a few hours sunbathing on Playa de Avalo beach or depart on a whale watching boat trip. Admire the vivid floral exhibits and ancient laurel forest at Garajonay National Park.
13
Tenerife, Canary Islands
Tenerife is largest of the Canary Islands. The island is dominated by the dormant volcano Mount Teide; hop on a cable car to marvel at the views or take a hike along the trail. Tenerife is also known for its famous Carnaval de Santa Cruz with its spectacular parades, music, dancing, and colourful costumes. Siam Park is a Thai-themed water park packed with swimming pools, exhilarating slides, and plenty of family fun. Experience up-close encounters with gorillas, tigers, penguins, and other species at the landscaped Loro Park. Party animals can discover Playa de las Americas and its famed nightlife scene. Try your hand at windsurfing, kite surfing, or parasailing on El Medano Beach. The island’s capital, Santa Cruz, is home to Auditorio de Tenerife, Museum of Fine Arts, and Museum of Nature and Man. The UNESCO-listed colonial city of San Cristobal de la Laguna is well worth a visit too.

Overview
Like her sister ship, the sturdy Azamara Journey is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. You’ll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of our bars, restaurants, lounges, Casino and Cabaret. Nor will you feel like a sardine jammed in around the pool, where our attentive staff is always ready to offer a complimentary bottled water, soft drink or fresh towel. Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandahs. There’s nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views. Azamara’s friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!
