Stavanger, Norway
Arrive at the port of Stavanger - gateway to the majestic Lysefjord. Meander through the cobbled streets lined with white-washed wooden houses and see artists at work in the old quarter. Visit the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral and marvel at its vaulted ceiling and 13th-century Gothic chancel. Stop by the Norwegian Canning Museum to appreciate the town's heritage as the 'herring capital' of Norway.
Alesund, Norway
Step ashore at the Norwegian port of Alesund. This fishing town is found spread across several islands and is generally considered Norway's most beautiful city. Renowned for its cultural festivals, Alesund was rebuilt in 1904 following a huge fire and now features stunning Art Nouveau architecture to explore. Walk up Mount Askla for spectacular views; see the time capsule and Viking ship replicas at Jugendstilsenteret and Sunnmore Museums; feed the fish at Atlanterhavsparken; and enjoy coffee and cake at a waterfront cafe. There are a variety of hiking, biking and kayaking excursions to enjoy here, as well as lively bars and top restaurants serving local and international dishes.
Brønnøysund, Norway
Gateway to UNESCO World Heritage site, Vega Island and near the famous mountain with a hole in the middle, the Torghatten, Bronnoysund is a pretty little town of 5,000 inhabitants. Take a historical town walk and discover the parish church and learn about the town’s tradition of eider farming and duck-down processing.
Reine and Svolvær, Norway
Discover the fascinating Lofoten Islands, famous for their distinctive dramatic peaks, sheltered bays, untouched beaches and charming villages. Fishermen´s huts dot the shoreline at Reine, nestled amongst snowy granite peaks, making this picturesque area one of the most frequently photographed landscapes in Norway. Join a tour to explore the nearby hamlet of Å, a scenic traditional fishing village and Trollfjord Centre. The islands, steep mountains, beautiful beaches and bays of Svolvær offer exciting opportunities to enjoy outdoor and indoor activities, explore shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants.
Tromsø, Norway
Enjoy some of the optional tours of Tromsø or join the included activity of a visit to the Arctic experience centre, Polaria, the world’s most northern aquarium, where you’ll discover and experience a range of exhibits and get up close to the arctic bearded seals.
Honningsvag, Norway
Honningsvåg is your gateway to Norway's North Cape on Magerøya Island. This is the northernmost point in Europe, and the true land of the midnight sun. From mid-May to July, the full disc of the sun never dips below the horizon. In winter, the days barely lighten to a spectral gloom. To the north lies only the remote Svalbard Archipelago, Jan Mayan Island, and the polar ice cap. From the cliffs of North Cape, perched 1,000 feet above the Arctic Ocean, one stares into the arctic silence. During the summer months, vast reindeer herds roam Magerøya Island's treeless, central plateau.
Finnsnes, Norway
Finnsnes is the gateway to the fairytale island of Senja with its spectacular landscapes, and our included coach journey will take you along the Norwegian Scenic Route to ensure you have the opportunity to discover the lofty mountains, forests, sandy beaches and isolated coves of this beautiful area. South Senja is distinguished by rocky coastline and pine forests and is home to Ånderdalen National Park. Your chances of witnessing the Northern Lights are increased due to being in wilderness without light pollution here.
At Sea
Enjoy a variety of presentations as Hurtigruten’s Expedition Team will keep you enthralled on every facet of Norway’s geography, culture and history of Norway’s long and varied coastline. Spend time soaking in a hot tub, spotting sea wildlife or watch for the aurora borealis.
Kristiansand, Norway
Situated in southern Norway, Kristiansand and its old town Posebyen are home to traditional wooden houses and the neo-Gothic Kristiansand Cathedral. The Sørlandets Museum displays Norwegian art from 1800; take time to discover the Bystranda city beach and 17th-century Christiansholm Fortress rotunda on your adventure along the shorefront. Marvel at the spectacular lighthouse and art of Odderøya or attend an unforgettable concert or theatrical performance at Kilden Performing Arts Centre. Come together as a family to check out Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park to hop on themed rides, experience the thrilling waterpark, and get a glimpse at a range of exotic regional animals.
Bergen, Norway
The charming port city of Bergen is framed by seven hills on Norway's south-west shore. Bergen’s bustling waterfront and narrow streets of colourful half-timbered houses combine with a proud musical and maritime heritage. Ride the funicular railway up Mount Floyen for city views. Visit Troldhaugen Museum to see Edvard Grieg's musical heritage comes to life, or explore the artwork on display at KODE. The 900-year old Bryggen, a wharf that features museums and pubs, guides you through the city's sea-faring past, while locally-caught seafood can be found at Bergen Fish Market. Discover family fun at Bergen Science Centre and Bergen Aquarium, or explore the city's sights on a Segway tour.

Food & Drink

Visiting 34 ports, Hurtigruten have an exceptional opportunity to get fresh produce from local suppliers everyday. This means delicious new and fresh ingredients, both from coastal and inland areas.

Based on the season's best ingredients, the chefs create either three-course dinners or lavish buffets. Being a coastal voyage, seafood dominates the menu, accompanied with fresh vegetables and delicately flavoured sauces. Each dinner ends with traditional∘ desserts, like home-made cakes, puddings, berries or sorbet. Breakfast and lunch is served buffet style, while dinner is a set dinner.

An expedition voyage with Hurtigruten is rigged towards maximizing your experiences of the places we are going to. On days when we are not on shore we encourage you to spend as much time as possible out on deck. Join our educational lectures at different locations on board.

A travel experience is often much richer if you have knowledge and understanding about the nature, wildlife, culture and history of your destination.

Our Expedition team will make sure you are well prepared for the experiences ahead. They will also re-capitulate and answer questions in hindsight. You will not find bingo, arcade games and entertainment theatres often found on conventional cruise ships.

Our aim is to get you closer to unique environments and to allow you to share the experience with your fellow travellers. Occasionally there may be some light entertainment on board in the evenings.
