Crossing the Arctic Circle
Sail through the vast open seas of Norway, Greenland, Finland, and Iceland filled with indigenous wildlife as you cross the Arctic Circle. Experience the region's unique climate with prolonged days and enchanting midnight suns during the summer. Winter brings cooler days where the sun doesn't rise above the horizon and light is provided by the moon, stars, and spectacular Northern Lights. Discover natural beauty where most areas remain relatively untouched by the 21st century. Watch polar bears dive from towering ice caps and admire a multitude of other native species including whales, seals, walruses, Arctic foxes, reindeer, and numerous sea birds.

Alta stretches along 15km of coastline in the Finnmark County in Norway. Inhabited by the indigenous Sami people since prehistoric times, Alta is also considered to be one of the best places to experience the midnight sun in the summer and see the Northern Lights in the winter. Gaze in awe at the modern-style Northern Lights Cathedral, explore the UNESCO-listed ancient rock carvings at Alta Museum and Hjemmeluft then enjoy the thrill of husky sledding and snowmobiling through Arctic landscapes. The Altafjord and the Altaelva River offer some of the best salmon fishing in the world. A visit to the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel is a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
9
Sortland, Vesteralen Norway
Sortland, the largest town of the beautiful Vesterålen archipelago, is one of Northern Norway’s most unique destinations. Nicknamed ‘Blue Town’, Sortland showcases various shades of blue, thanks to any idea put forward by artist Bjorn Elvenes at the start of the new millennium. With the help of other local artists and residents; Sortland became a living 3D painting with a mix of architecture including Swiss style wood, concrete, and glass structures. Explore the town's attractions such as art exhibitions, the early 20th-century church, and the downtown's ‘Writings on a Field of Blue’. You can also discover Vesterålen's natural treasures - rugged, unspoilt countryside landscapes, miles of gorgeous island coastline, and the archipelago's surrounding waters are home to seals, seabirds, and whales. In the summer months it is possible to experience the magical midnight sun here; and in the winter, you just might be lucky enough to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights.
10
Narvik, Norway
Step ashore in Narvik in northern Norway. This wild and dramatic town is surrounded by islands to the west, stunning fjords to the north and south, and mountains in every direction. The clear skies above Narvik are great for admiring the Northern Lights in late autumn through to spring or to experience the Midnight Sun from May to the end of July. Go fishing in Ofotjorden or try skiing or hiking in the mountains. Ride the cable car to Narvikfjellet for amazing views or take a scenic ride on the Oftobanen Railway to Sweden. Admire the exhibits on display at Ofoten Museum, Narvik War Museum, and Red Cross War Museum. Encounter wolves, brown bears, arctic foxes, and reindeers at Polar Park. Head to Narvik's hydropower station at 13:00 or 21:00 to admire the impressive 75-metre-high plume of water that spurts skywards from the water spout.

Hardangerfjord, Norway
Known as the 'Queen of the Fjords'; Hardangerfjord is the third-longest fjord in the world and is situated south-east of Bergen in Vestland county in the Hardanger region of Western Norway. The best way to experience this incredible fjord is to sail along its 179-kilometre-long and 800-metre deep stretch of still, azure water on a cruise ship; enjoying the spellbinding scenery, towering mountains, teeming waterfalls, idyllic orchards, and small charming villages. The Hardangerfjord has several scenic branches; including the 38-kilometre-long Sorfjord, the tiny Ulvikfjord, and the Eidfjord. Background
Bolette
Overview
Fred. Olsen’s flagship Bolette is everything that loyal guests have come to expect from a Fred. Olsen ship. Proudly bearing the name of Fred. Olsen Jr.’s great-great-grandmother, as many other Olsen vessels have over the years, she exudes classic, elegant style in her exterior and interior design, features spacious and comfortable public areas, and has all the facilities and special touches you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. While she’s one of the largest ships, by overall size, in the Fred. Olsen fleet, Bolette has capacity for less than 1,400 guests. So, in keeping with Fred. Olsen’s smaller-ship ethos, you’ll find that you’re not overcrowded on board, and have plenty of space in which to indulge yourself in the stylish dining venues, enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple and fantastic entertainment at the bars, lounges and theatres, and while away the hours by the all-season pool. And of course, with the friendly staff providing personal, attentive service, there’s an intimate feel to the on board experience too.

Food & Drink

The fine dining experience enjoyed in in the elegant restaurants and dining venues on board our ships is a high point of every Fred. Olsen cruise. There are deliciously-tempting, expertly prepared dishes, from perfectly cooked breakfasts to sumptuous five course á la carte dinners, on offer throughout the day, presented with the personal touch of Fred. Olsen's famously attentive service.

Guests can choose to dine in one of the smaller supplementary dining venues too, or perhaps at the more relaxed buffet restaurant.

The dress code in all restaurants is casual during the day, while the evenings are usually smart-casual, apart from on our fantastic Formal Nights.

Entertainment

On a cruise holiday, we know that your on board experience is just as important to you as the time you spend ashore. That's why we are dedicated to ensuring our entertainment programme is packed with activities and memorable performances that help to create inspirational days and unforgettable nights.

You'll find that there's plenty to keep you entertained during the day on board Bolette, whether you prefer to while away the hours relaxing or engaging your body and mind. The ship's facilities include two swimming pools, two jacuzzis and an impressive spa with a Thermal Spa, Aroma Room, Hydro Pool, two saunas and nine treatment rooms, while there are tennis and basketball courts and a Demonstration Theatre – which hosts fantastic cookery classes and demonstrations – too.

When the lights go down and you settle into your evening, we'll treat you to a selection of live shows ranging from music and cabaret to quick-fire stand-up comedy, all enjoyed in the space and comfort of our stylish lounges and theatres. And, of course, throughout the ship you can sit, relax and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple accompanied by the gentle sounds of live acoustic music.
