Nestled on the east bank of the Nile River in southern Egypt, discover Luxor; part of the site of ancient Thebes. The spectacular city surrounds two huge surviving ancient monuments - Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. The royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens can be found on the river's west bank and are a fascinating day out for photo opportunities. Marvel at the ancient Egyptian sandstone statues and visit the remains of the ancient temple of King Amenhotep III at Colossi of Memnon. Luxor Museum is brimming with much to impress; find Egyptian artefacts, artwork sculptures, and mummies. Spend time in the ancient Egyptian's workers village of Deir el-Medina or the Great Hypostyle Hall features mesmerising sandstone columns featuring many intricate carvings.

Qena, Egypt
An Egyptian city on the east bank of the Nile, Qena is known for the ancient Dendera temple complex across the river. One of the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt, there are many fascinating visits to be had here. Check out the main Temple of Hathor, stroll by the Sacred Lake, and gaze in awe at the Birth of Isis Temple, Christian Basilica, Sanatorium, and much more. Venture to find the Hall of Offerings which will lead you to the sanctuary and the most holy part of the temple; home to the goddess’ statue. There are also opportunities while you're in Quesa to take a tour of the churches and monasteries and don't forget to stop by Sidi Abd Er-Rahm Mosque.

Esna, Egypt
Esna is an Egyptian city that is located on the west bank of the Nile. The Temple of Khnum is Esna's most famous attraction; check out the hypostyle wall; the only part of the temple that can be visited today with its well-preserved carvings dating back as late as the 3rd century AD. One of the oldest mosques in Egypt is Emari Minaret; its various layers, square base, concave octagonal drum, and domed lantern are a must-see. Discover the 19th-century houses with their elaborate wooden lattice screens along the waterfront of this farming town. To the north of the Temple of Khnum you'll find the Ottoman caravanserai which portrays much beauty but is a little run down in its years.

Aswan, Egypt
Southern Egypt's strategic and commercial gateway is Aswan; a city on the Nile River well-known for its significant archaeological sites. Take in the quiet, dusty streets and traditional villages of Elephantine Island or visit Aswan Museum to test the Nilometer; a measuring system the ancient Egyptians used to assess the height of the Nile. Discover the sight of the unfinished Obelisk for a look into how much work used to go into the stonemasonry here. The Nubian Museum will give you plenty of knowledge on the culture of the Nubian people or take photos of the High Dam looking so picturesque. Enjoy a spot of shopping at the Souk or take hike and climb to reach the Monastery of St Simien.

The famous site of the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus is one of Egypt's best-preserved ancient monuments and most atmospheric. Tour the temple to notice colourful carvings, granite statues, and its ancient chambers. You can also spectate the magnificent Edfu Sound and Light Show on your visit. Wander the fascinating Tombs of El Kab to notice colourful scenes of the ancient city's daily life and pause at the Roman period temple of Kanais filled with great sights. Perhaps enjoy a camel ride through the sands of the city and the large quarry Gibel Silsila is home to several interesting excavations.
