Soak up some of Porto’s culture with a performance at the Casa da Musica concert hall, an exhibition at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, or a stroll along the Cais da Ribeira.

4
Porto to Régua to Pinhão, Portugal
The ship sets sail this morning towards Régua arriving early afternoon. Régua is the largest city on the banks of the Douro in this wine-growing valley. The town played a fundamental role in the production and marketing of port wine – which was transported away by sailing boat – as early as the 18th century. A-ROSA ALVA then continues to the little town of Pinhão in the famous port wine region; the area where the Douro and its landscape are at their most picturesque. It is surrounded by enchanting vineyards and the quintas that produce the wine; which you can visit from Pinhão and enjoy tours and wine tastings. The ship remains moored in Pinhão overnight.
5
Pinhao to Vega de Térron
You'll have the morning to further explore Pinhão - perhaps visit Pinhão’s railway station with its picturesque views and attractive, glazed ceramic tilework or follow the 7km walking trail from Douro Bridge up to the hilly Rua Praca de Oliveira and the Casal de Loivos viewing point. The ship sets sail towards Vega Terron on the Portuguese border at the confluence of the Douro and Agueda rivers; arriving early evening for an overnight stay.
6
Vega de Terron to Barca d'Alva
Spend the morning exploring Vega de Terron; from the distinctive Chafariz dos Petos fountain near the Market Square to the beautiful Douro International Nature Park across the river with its amazing flora, fauna, birdlife, and wildlife. Or perhaps travel to the picturesque medieval town of Figueira Castelo Rodrigo or the ancient museum city of Salamanca and its vibrant Plaza Mayor. A-ROSA ALVA sets sail at midday towards the quaint Portuguese river port of Barca de Alva near the Spanish border for an overnight mooring.
7
Barca de Alva to Pocinho to Pinhão, Portugal
Start your morning in Barca d'Alva; nestled amongst vineyards, orchards, olive and almond groves, mountains, and scenic countryside. Admire Almirante Saramento Rodrigues Bridge; visit the old railway station; and shop for locally-made souvenirs, jewellery, wine, and bags in the shops. Mid-morning the ship sails towards the picturesque village of Pocinho; gateway to Archaeological Park of the Coa Valley, The Coa Foundation Museum, Mother Church of Vila Nova de Foz Coa, Mother Church of Torre de Moncorvo, and Pocinho Dam. Late afternoon the ship returns to Pinhão for an overnight stay.
8
Pinhao to Regua to Bitetos, Portugal (overnight)
Wake up this morning in Pinhão as the ship sails towards Régua; the largest city on the banks of the Douro and the centre of Portugal's port wine industry. Explore the city's wine producing history at Museu de Douro set in a former wine warehouse on the riverfront; watch the ships go up and down the river at Régua Dam Lock; and admire the panoramic vistas from Miradouro de Sao Leonardo de Galafura. Late afternoon A-ROSA VIVA sails towards the Portuguese village of Bitetos - built over the ruins of a Roman settlement - for an overnight mooring.
9
Bitetos to Porto, Portugal
The ship leaves Bitetos behind early morning and continues to your final port of Porto; arriving mid-morning. You'll have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city. Perhaps climb the 240 steps to the top of Clerigos Tower for cityscape vistas; ride the Teleferico de Gaia cable car from Gaia riverside; admire the Portuguese artworks at Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis; visit Palacio da Bolsa, Igreja de Sao Francisco, and Cathedral Se; experience World of Discoveries interactive museum and theme park; and explore Porto's riverside quarter, Cais de Ribeira, with its colourful townhouses and vibrant Praca de Ribeira.
