The restaurants on board Viking Star offer a variety of regional and international cuisines – including American dishes and healthy options. The Restaurant, a large venue on Deck 2, features a daily-changing menu with regional dishes created from fresh ingredients. Enjoy authentic Chinese noodles, Japanese sushi and specialities from throughout Europe at World Cafe — which also has al fresco dining. You can visit Explorers' Lounge for Scandinavian fare and a daily 'Waffle Hour', while Mamsen's — a casual gourmet deli — serves smoked salmon sandwiches and locally-sourced cheeses. You also have The Chef's Table, The Kichen Table, Pool Grill, and Menfredi's Italian Restaurant.
Viking Star features a sociable pool bar where you can enjoy a range of refreshments on the terrace. There's always plenty to do on Viking Star. The ship's Aquavit Terrace and infinity pool are based over the stern and offer stunning views of approaching shores. Day 1: Fly UK – San Juan, Puerto Rico
Fly from your chosen UK airport to San Juan and enjoy a transfer to the port to embark on board Viking Sea.
Day 2: San Juan, Puerto Rico
San Juan is the capital of and the largest city on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Explore the cobblestoned buildings of Old San Juan with its 16th-century El Morro and La Fortaleza fortresses, San Juan National Historic Site and Spanish colonial buildings. New San Juan is awash with tropical beaches, luxury hotels, world-class dining and designer shopping. Pay a visit to Casa Blanca Museum, Museo del Nino and Galeria National. Make a whistle-stop tour of the sights on the free trolley bus or take a scenic stroll along Paseo de La Princesa. Learn about the art of rum making on the Bacardi Distillery Tour or enjoy the tranquillity of San Juan Botanical Garden.
Day 3: Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands. Powder-white sands, azure seas and verdant green mountains set the scene; equally matched by tasty culinary experiences, luxurious holiday resorts, and a wealth of famous attractions. Explore the eclectic mix of shops in Road Town or escape to the tranquillity of J R O'Neal Botanic Gardens. Get up close to nature at Sage Mountain National Park or visit the giant boulders and rock formations at The Baths on Virgin Gorda. Go surfing at Cane Garden Bay or snorkel amongst tropical fish and coral at Smuggler's Cove. Swim with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery or sample locally-made rum at Callwood's Rum Distillery.
Day 4: St John’s, Antigua
St. John's on Antigua is your next stop. This pretty capital city not only gives you access to Antigua's 365 stunning beaches, but is also packed with attractions including English Harbour and the historic Nelson's Dockyard. A visit to the colourful St. John's street market is a must, and you also find great shopping and dining in Heritage Quay. Travel to Shirley Heights Lookout for superb views of English and Falmouth Harbours. A 90-minute ferry ride from Bryson Wharf takes you to Antigua's sister island, Barbuda, to explore the Arawak Caves and Frigate Bird Sanctuary.
Day 5: Castries, St. Lucia
Arrive in Castries, the capital city of St Lucia. Step ashore and shop for bargains at La Place Carenage Shopping Plaza in downtown Castries, or venture to the heart of the city to the vibrant Central Market. Pay a visit to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Derek Walcott Square and the Government House; before climbing to the top of Morne Fortune to view Fort Charlotte. Spend a few hours at Vigie Beach or head south to Marigot Bay. Day 6: Bridgetown, Barbados
It's easy to see why Barbados is known as 'Little England' with its Georgian houses, Lord Nelson Statue and Parliament Square. Indulge in retail therapy on Broad Street, admire stunning views and rugged island landscapes on a jeep island safari, or visit the dramatic stalactites and stalagmites of Harrison's Cave. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience - sail on a catamaran to swim with once-endangered hawksbill and green sea turtles.
Day 7: Roseau, Dominica
The capital of Dominica, Roseau, is a small and compact urban settlement off the coast of the Caribbean Sea. Head to the historical French Quarter where the streets are lined with graceful wooden buildings housing vibrant bars, restaurants and shops. View the Cathedral of Our Lady of Fair Haven of Roseau, one of the most beautiful structures in Dominica, and shop for souvenirs at the Old Market. Escape to the tranquil Dominica Botanic Gardens or step back in time at Dominica Museum. Venture further afield to Morne Trois Pitons National Park to see Bolling Lake, Victoria Waterfall, Trafalgar Falls, Middleham Falls, Emerald Pool, Titou Gorge and the Valley of Desolation.
Day 8: Basseterre, St. Kitts
Basseterre is the capital city of St Kitts and Nevis in the West Indies. Explore the shops and bars of The Circus or pay a visit to the cathedral, courthouse, and fountain of Independence Square. On the outskirts of the city, you'll discover Fairview Great House and Botanical Gardens and to the northwest are Romney Manor and the Wingfield Estate. Take a ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railway to discover deep ravines, black-sand beaches, and Mount Liamuiga volcano. Admire the views over sugarcane fields from the 17th-century Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park.
Day 9: Philipsburg, St. Martin
The ship drops anchor today at St Maarten's Dutch capital city - Philipsburg. Stroll along the shops on bustling Front Street or enjoy a couple of hours’ beach time on Great Bay beach. Fly through the trees at the Fly Zone at Loterie Farm or explore the island by quad bike. See local plant and animal life at St Maarten Zoological and Botanical Garden, and caterpillars and butterflies at the Butterfly Farm. You can also swim with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery Anguilla or admire heart-stopping views in the Pic du Paradis hills.
Day 10: St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
Arguably the prettiest Virgin Island, St Thomas boasts plenty of picture-perfect beaches. Visit Magen’s Bay, voted one of the world's top ten most beautiful beaches; or explore the coral World Marine Park with its three-level underwater observatory. Experience the colourful wonders of snorkelling in the crystal blue waters or just lie back and enjoy the sand and sunshine on the island’s many beaches. Venture up Mountain Top and admire the panoramic views of surrounding islands and get lost in the bustling atmosphere. Don’t forget to browse the shops for bargains in jewellery, perfume and souvenirs.
Day 11: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Disembark in San Juan and enjoy a transfer to the airport, for your flight back to the UK.
