Our first purpose-built river cruise ship Spirit of the Rhine was designed with our guests in mind. In the past we’ve chartered ships with varying style, size and facilities, but now we can offer the same boutique experience on board every ship. Spirit of the Rhine was constructed at the Vahali Shipyards in Serbia in 2021 and set sail on her inaugural cruise later in the year. Her official naming ceremony took place in Arnhem in the Netherlands and was attended by her Godmother, broadcaster and journalist Dame Jenni Murray. Designed to the highest specification, Spirit of the Rhine has four passenger decks, can accommodate 172 passengers, and set the standard for our expanding fleet. The importance of experience We designed Spirit of the Rhine with our customers in mind, relying on over three decades of experience in the cruise industry. Spirit of the Rhine is our first purpose-built ship and led the way for the design of future ships. She will predominantly cruise on the Rhine but also offers itineraries on the Dutch and Belgian waterways. Unique décor Spirit of the Rhine’s interior design focuses on the river’s legends, such as Lorelei and Rheinfels Castle – a special commission of the castle painted by Sunga Park is exhibited in Rheinfels Restaurant. In the Lorelei Lounge you can see a 3D depiction of butterflies landing on ‘the Lorelei book’ by Lisa Haftel, while the ship’s corridors showcase delicate butterfly wing patterns by Lauri Dunn.

All-inclusive dining with a panoramic view

Spirit of the Rhine has two restaurants; the Panorama is the main restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the more intimate Rheinfels Restaurant is open for a light lunch or speciality dinner reservation. Alfresco barbecue dining is available on the outside terrace when the weather is fine. Every mealtime is a special event, often stretching to four or five courses.

Complimentary afternoon tea is served daily, and tea, coffee and biscuits are available whenever you choose from the self-service stations.

Your all-inclusive on-board dining experience begins with dinner on the first evening, providing the perfect way to settle into your cruise. The Panorama Restaurant is the main dining spot aboard each of our boutique ships, serving up a variety of dining choices. Enjoy a tempting buffet at breakfast and lunch, along with waiter-served fine dining in the evening. 

Taking time to enjoy a meal on board never means missing out on any surrounding scenery – true to their names the Panorama restaurants feature floor-to-ceiling windows so you can dine on riverside backdrops.

Alongside the Panorama restaurants, our boutique Spirit ships also boast their very own speciality restaurants which have their own unique personalities. Take a seat in Rheinfels aboard Spirit of the Rhine, all specialty dining is included in the price.

Dining in the specialty restaurant is a more intimate experience, perfect for a special occasion during your cruise. Make sure to book your table once you are on board. 

Choose from one of the elegant twin or single cabins; each comes complete with hotel-style beds for a peaceful night’s sleep. More than 75% of the ship’s 92 cabins have French balconies, looking out from the Middle and Upper decks. With floor-to-ceiling windows, they offer personal, private views of every destination. Cabins on the Lower deck are smaller and feature a small picture window, so they also have plenty of natural light.
