Cephalonia (also known as Kefalonia) is the largest of the seven Ionian Islands in western Greece. The beauty of this island was captured in all its glory in the 2001 film ‘Captain Corelli's Mandolin’ starring Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz. Visit the island's capital of Argastoli and explore the Melissani Caves and Korgia Cultural and Historical Museum and see wild Loggerhead Turtles in Argostoli Bay. The Drogarati, Zervati, Kounopetra, and Dragosphilia Caves in Lixouri are well-worth a visit too.

From its Venetian-style gates to its former Austrian prisons, Kotor's past is kept alive for you to explore. Wander around the range of shops, and head to a bar or restaurant at a piazza to admire views of the mountains.

The Croatian city of Dubrovnik sits on the country's southern coast on the Adriatic Sea. Explore the distinctive Old Town — an UNESCO World Heritage site — with its 17th-century Cathedral of the Assumption, baroque St Blaise Church, the Renaissance Sponza Palace, and the Gothic Rector's Palace. Experience the shops and restaurants on the pedestrianised Stradun and take a leisurely walk around the ancient city walls. Admire the views as you ride the cable car to Mt Srd or visit one of the city's museums. Relax in the sunshine on Banje Beach; enjoy a boat trip to the nearby islands of Lokrum and Elafati; view the city from the water on a kayaking trip; or take a snorkelling tour.
